The star has handed over the complete sum of his £25k honor prize money to the MVT, which functions to protect the UK's independent concert spaces.

Fender was presented with the cheque on mid-October as his third album the album was named the outstanding release of the past year.

Fender has chosen to donate the funds to the trust, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues had in his early career.

"As an artist would not have achieved my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I played around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," remarked Sam Fender. "These venues are iconic, but they are struggling."

Beginning in 2023, more than 150 of these locations have permanently closed – about 16 percent of the total UK scene.

In the last year, top acts including Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by applying a small levy to their admission fees, which benefits local stages.

Sam Fender also participated, generating over £100k on his live tour to help numerous grassroots venues across Britain.

The money helped locations that were dealing with possible closure due to issues stemming from water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and sound issues.

Some locations obtained monetary aid in upgrading amenities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and audiences.

"The concept that money from performances in large arenas backs the local stages, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just sensible," the star has stated.

The musician is among several artists to donate his honor funds to good deeds.

In the band won the trophy in the mid-90s for their record their work, vocalist Jarvis Cocker announced that the group would give their prize money to the charity War Child.

That year, musician Ms Dynamite divided her bounty between several good causes, like the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," she shared with a publication.

Previously, the band gave their winnings to the community center that supported their group, alongside other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners M People gave their award to a MS organization after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"Winning was sufficient," remarked artist Small. "The money was the extra but we could do without the extra, because we had the main prize. So our winning impacted the lives of others."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust shared it had saved two grassroots venues in south-east England, by placing them under community ownership.

The first in the city and the other in that location were acquired under the Own Our Venues scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and music fans who buy "ownership units" in the properties.
